S&P 500 gained 0.88%. What about Dow Jones and Nasdaq?  

U.S. stock market ended the last week in the green. The Nasdaq Composite Index COMP rallied by 1.39% to 11,579.94, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA jumped by 0.57% to 28,586.90, gaining for the third consecutive day.

 

Tesla Inc. TSLA also surged forward by 1.89% to $433.95 on Friday, during a favorable trading session for the stock market. Tesla closed at $68.54, below its 52-week high of $502.49, which it reached on September 1st.

 

On Friday, the stock outperformed some of its competitors, as General Motors Co. GM tumbled down by 0.16% to $32.16, Ford Motor Co. F lost 1.36% to $7.25, and NIO Inc. ADR NIO gained only 0.14% to $21.47.

 

Meanwhile, Alphabet Inc. Cl A GOOGL climbed up by 1.82% to $1,510.45 on Friday, with the S&P 500 Index SPX soaring by 0.88% to 3,477.14. Alphabet Inc. closed at $215.65, below its 52-week high of $1,726.10, which it reached on September 2nd.

 

The stock showed a mixed performance, though, unlike some of its competitors. Microsoft Corp. MSFT skyrocketed by 2.48% to $215.81, and Facebook Inc. Cl A FB edged up by 0.26% to $264.45. Trading volume remained 99,309, dropping below its 50-day average volume of 1.7 M.

 

What about Apple and Netflix stocks? 

 

Apple Inc. AAPL also gained 1.74% to $116.97 on Friday. The stock closed at $21.01, just short of its 52-week high of $137.98, which the company hit on September 2nd. The stock showed a mixed performance like Alphabet.

 

On the other hand, International Business Machines Corp. IBM plummeted down by 2.81% to $127.79. Trading volume remained 82.2 million, tumbling below its 50-day average volume of 180.8 M.

 

The shares of Netflix rallied by 1.44% to $539.44. The stock closed at $35.93, still lower than its 52-week high of $575.37, which the company reached on July 13th.

 

Its competitor, Amazon.com Inc. AMZN, skyrocketed by 3.01% to $3,286.65, while Walt Disney Co. DIS jumped by 1.54% to $124.98. However, Comcast Corp. Cl A CMCSA declined by 0.99% to $44.85. Trading volume (4.7 M) was 844,077, lowering below its 50-day average volume of 5.5 M.

 

On Friday, European stocks traded choppy, weighed by a strong euro. Drug stock Bayer and technology names tumbled down. The Stoxx Europe 600 index SXXP, lowered by 0.1% to 370.26, after falling by 0.6% on Thursday. The German DAX DAX also plummeted down by 0.3%, while the French CAC 40 PX1 was flat, and the FTSE 100 index UKX gained 0.3%.
