American Company Enters the Final Stage of the Coronavirus Vaccine Trials

The coronavirus vaccine development at the company Moderna has entered the final stage. Tal Zaks, the American company’s Chief Medical Officer, hopes to complete it by the end of the year.

The race in infectious disease treatment continues. Moderna reports that the experiment is being conducted, and it is advancing one step further. According to Zaks, the company is nearing the final stages of recruiting volunteers for the third phase of clinical research. They recruited more than 25,000 volunteers out of the 30,000 planned.

Are there any side effects of the vaccine?

Volunteers have received the first dose, and 10,000 of them have also received the second dose. Vaccinations will come to an end in the coming weeks, Zaks said.

The Chief Medical Officer stated that some symptoms involve a slight headache. Additionally, weakness may be experienced on the first day of the vaccine. They go away within a day or two.

Zaks claims that during studies in the first phase, there are no new side effects apart from those he described.

China and Russia bending the rules over coronavirus vaccine

China and Russia have begun unveiling their coronavirus vaccines before completing clinical tests. In fact, China is now the single supplier of the Covid-19 vaccine to the Middle East. Meantime, Russia signed a deal to supply India with 100 million doses of the Sputnik V vaccine. These moves have caused Western policymakers to worry. As a result, by having bent the rules and rushed out their vaccines, China and Russia may have purchased significant geopolitical power. There is also a possibility that their vaccines may fail. And it would cost a great number of human lives.

The Chinese published the data of the first phase of their vaccine, and the results were satisfactory. They were able to stimulate antibodies in the blood. However, Zaks claimed they were not at the high levels as Moderna can reach. He also stated that their vaccine is different from the Russian vaccine. Moderna vaccine triggers the immune system to a higher response in terms of antibody production.

Zaks believes the vaccine will be ready at the end of 2020. If more cases are required in the places where they did vaccination, it will take a few more weeks. He assumes that in the first half of 2021, the vaccine will be available to the populations of those countries signed with the company.
