Japanese Broker Rises from 2019 Slump

Many forex brokers have been looking forward to 2020, and for good reason. Japanese broker Gaitame saw increasing trading volumes for January following weak Q4 and 2019 volumes.

Total transaction volumes measured 23.9 percent above the previous month at ¥154.6 billion from ¥124.8 billion in December. Although, this figure wasn’t enough to surpass a yearly comparison against ¥272.2 billion made in January 2019.

Monthly deposits came in slightly higher this month at ¥113.74 billion, up by 0.04 percent or ¥113.70 billion in December. This increased year-on-year by approximately 3.9 percent against 2019’s ¥109.47 billion figure.

January 2020 also saw 962 more accounts against December, rising to 505,150 from 504,188.

The broker initially saw an 11.3% uptick on revenue for the first have of 2019, but H2 nullified these earnings. Lower profits seen in H2 dragged its Switzerland-based company Compagnie Franciere Tradition (CFT) down.

Overall, CFT saw higher yearly profits with CHF 1.013 billion in 2019, which is 4.7 percent higher than in 2018.

Consolidated revenues were at CHF 219.0 million in Q4, compared to CHF 220.7 million in 2018. For H2, it saw a 6.1 percent increase when compared annually.

For the full year, adjusted revenues dropped by 2.7 percent, though the group saw IDB revenue rising by 5.0 percent.

CFT also reported growth in the third quarter of 2019, leaving Gaitame with an adjusted revenue slump by 12.6 percent.
