More Complaints on Tesla Vehicles’ Sudden Acceleration

Elon Musk’s beloved electric car manufacturer is facing serious complaints about sudden or unexpected accelerations. Almost two dozen more Tesla vehicle owners came forth signing a lawsuit against the company recently.

The technology company’s cars reportedly had serious glitches which prompted the complainants to file against it.

The original lawsuit was formally filed in January by 8 plaintiffs from six states in the United States. And earlier this year, the number jumped from just 8 to about 195 from 11 states.

According to the owners, the firm has intentionally disregarded some of the problems as it rushed to pump out vehicles.

Technology news reports said that plaintiffs initially complained about Tesla’s Model X SUV and Model 2 sedans. And now, the lawsuit says that Model 3 units are having some problems.

The lawsuit says that a defect caused the company’s vehicles to suddenly accelerate even without the driver’s command. It added that the automobiles were capable of reaching full power in acceleration without the driver stepping on the pedals.

Tesla has not yet given any comments on the new complaints against its vehicles.

But there were reports earlier this year that the firm claimed that there is no unintended acceleration in Tesla automobiles. The company added that the car only accelerates “if and only if” the driver told it to do so.

52 of the complaints came from Model 3 owners while 47 were from Model X units and 96 are from Model S units.

Closer to Level 5 Autonomous Driving

The news about the sudden acceleration is matched by the latest clamor started by the company’s chief executive officer.

Modern technology has helped companies reach what was once just dreamt. Self-driving technology has become a big thing in the automobile industry and it’s one of Tesla’s main assets.

Earlier today, Elon Musk said that the company is very close to achieving level 5 autonomous driving tech. This refers to the capabilities of a car to navigate roads without any input from the driver.

Musk said he is confident that the company would attain the basic functionality for self-driving power this year. The electronic carmaker is also developing a new heat and cooling system in its units.

The Tesla chief executive said these updates on a video message for the yearly World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai. Musk even acknowledged the company’s team in China for their “amazing job” there.

The electric automobile manufacturer’s share prices soared following this good news.
