Coronavirus Troubles Apple’s Timeline For Latest iPhone

In a piece of technology news, former employees and supply chain experts indicated that there would be a travel restriction to China because of the coronavirus that has come just as Apple Inc’s engineers typically jet off to Asia. It is to perfect the production of this fall’s new iPhones.

Meanwhile, high-volume manufacturing is not yet on schedule until summer. However, the first months of the year are when Apple works out the assembly practices with associates such as Hon Hai Precision Industry Co’s Foxconn.

The information was according to two previous Apple employees.

One of the previous employees who asked not to be identified stated, “They probably have one assembly line they’re trying things out on.”

He has also been discussing further production matters.

Apple makes use of other contract manufacturers such as Wistron Corp. It is to produce some iPhones.

On the flip side, Taiwan’s Foxconn tends to manage the introduction of new models. It is for the reason that its competencies are the most innovative supply chain, according to some experts.

Foxconn, the world’s leading contract electronics maker, has postponed the reopening of its vital iPhone factories in Shenzhen and Zhengzhou.

The matter happened after the Lunar New Year holiday. However, it expects to continue half of its Chinese production by the end of February.

Officials Work Intensely To Meet Revenue Targets

Elsewhere, Senior Foxconn officials have been working vaguely from Taipei since the holiday has not yet resumed to China on a large scale.

A person familiar with the matter told a news report, the person was speaking of the firm officials generally.

Apple declined to comment on that issue. Foxconn also did not instantly respond to a request for comment.

Last week, Apple was cautioning the investors that it was not likely to meet revenue targets for the first three months of 2020.

Moreover, global iPhone supplies would be on the limit. It is for the reason that the manufacturing sites in China were not ramping up fabrication as rapidly as anticipated.

This month, Foxconn stated that the coronavirus outbreak had reduced its revenue this year.

Earlier this month, United Airlines has also been disclosing Apple is a general customer. However, the company was canceling all flights to China until late April.

Apple, on January 28, stated that it plans to limit employee on traveling to China due to “business-critical” situations.

For new iPhone models, the transition from prototype to the assembly of millions of units begins in earnest when the Lunar New Year holiday in China ends.

The point will be in late January and early February, people familiar with the development stated.
