Tesla Delivered 308,600 Vehicles in the Fourth Quarter

Tesla is one of the most popular electric carmakers in the world. So, it is not surprising that people are willing to pay tens of thousands of dollars for its electric vehicles. Last year, Tesla moved its headquarters to Texas.

The company on Sunday said it delivered 308,600 electric vehicles in the fourth quarter of 2021. In the last quarter of the year, Tesla produced 305,840 electric vehicles.

Shares of Tesla jumped more than 7% in premarket trading on Monday.

For the full year, it delivered 936,172 vehicles, an increase of 87% versus 2020. In the third quarter of last year, vehicle deliveries reached 241,300, the company’s best quarter.

Some people might not be aware of one interesting fact. The company combines delivery numbers for its higher-priced Model S and X vehicles, as well as lower-priced Model 3 and Y vehicles. Also, Tesla does not break out sales or production numbers by region.

Tesla and its models

Deliveries of its flagship Model S sedan as well as Model X represented just under 3% of its total deliveries in 2021. In 2021, it delivered 911,208 Model 3 and Model 3 to customers. Out of 911,208 vehicles, the company delivered 296,850 in the final quarter of the year.

The company makes Model 3 and Model Y vehicles at its factory in Fremont, California and Shanghai. Nevertheless, Tesla only produces Model X and S in Fremont.

Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk wants to increase the company’s vehicle sales volume to 20 million annually over the next nine years.

Other companies are also willing to invest in electric vehicles, and Toyota is one of them. The company told investors it will invest $35 billion to bring 30 battery-electric vehicles out by 2030. Tesla’s other competitor Rivian recently began deliveries of its battery-electric pick-up and SUV.
