Spotify Makes its Debut in Russia and 12 More Countries

The music streaming company, Spotify, launched in Russia yesterday. The technology firm announced that it’s making its much-awaited debut in Russia and 12 more countries just recently.

The music-listening platform is finally available in more European markets and even Russia. This marks a big win for the company as the country is one of the world’s biggest streaming markets.

The Swedish music and media servicing empire is already famous for being the biggest music and podcast streaming platform. And with the said market expansion, the platform is now available in approximately 92 markets worldwide.

Technology news says the 13 new markets are Russia, Croatia, Belarus, Albania, Kosovo, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, Serbia, Ukraine, and Bosnia & Herzegovina.

Spotify’s entrance into the said countries comes at a crucial time, as consumers there finally start embracing online music streaming.

The International Federation of Phonographic Industry, otherwise known as IFPI, acknowledges Russia as a big market. According to the IFPI, the country is currently the 17th biggest streaming market.

Recent data shows that Russia is on its way to becoming the world’s 10th biggest streaming market by 2030.

Reports say that 87% of consumers from Russia are accessing music through streaming. These figures easily crush the average of about 61% of consumers accessing music through streaming worldwide.

The move allows the company to grow its horizons in Moscow. If it matches its debut with the right marketing and advertising, it could prosper.

Duo Plan Gets Warm Receptions

From the time of listening to music through records, tapes, and DVDs, listening to music has gone a long way to today. And now, with the help of modern technology, Spotify has made listening to songs and podcasts easy and accessible.

Over the past few days, the Swedish streaming giant rolled out a duo plan for its subscribers. This was appreciated mostly by couples who previously shared accounts and didn’t want to spend too much on the pricier family promo.

Consumers have shared the relief from their frustrations online after they subscribed to the new package named Premium Duo.

The plan, as the name implies, can be shared by two people – as long as they reside in the same address.

The Premium Duo plan will cost around 12.99 US dollars per month, a 2 US dollars saving for couples. And it is also better than paying for two separate accounts, each of which is currently worth 9.99 US dollars.

Just like any other proms from Spotify, there are no advertisement interruptions for subscribers. Listeners can also listen to whatever song they want instead of listening and waiting for it on the playlists.

The duo plan also allows users to download music offline for listening on the go and at a higher bitrate.
