Razer Roll Out Face Masks in Singapore Via Vending Machines

Razer, a gaming hardware producer, plans to roll out locally made face masks in Singapore. The company announced that it will use the already existing networks of vending machines across the famous city-state soon.

The technology company said that it will first dispense about 20 vending machines in the business district of the country. Razer clarified that the machines will be located around malls and working centers in the area.

The initial idea planned to deploy the machines by June 1, when the local government eases the lockdown.

Razer is widely known in the tech industry for its gaming gear mainly on consoles, keyboards, and other desktop hardware. The California-based firm is one of the many tech companies that modified their productions because of the pandemic.

Furthermore, technology news reports have been featuring a new wave of companies that are preparing to help produce medical needs. Several other companies, from many industries even outside Singapore, have altered their productions to meet the demand for medical products.

Among other companies is Tesla, which has developed its own ventilators from its own materials.

Last month, Razer made a deal with Sunningdale Tech Ltd. to double its production of surgical masks. The deal with the precision plastic manufacturer will boost the capacity of the company to 10 million masks per month.

Last month, reported shared that Singapore announced that it will be mandatory to wear face masks in public. The country is known to keep a national stockpile of masks and has even distributed reusable masks amidst the pandemic.

Tech Companies Stepping Up

Modern technology has played a critical role in Asia’s fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Local reports say that tech companies have helped people in the region to cope with the ongoing pandemic.

A recent study found that some policymakers and companies in Asia have infused technology in their coronavirus response measures.

An example of a remarkable integration of tech is Singapore’s contact tracing measures. A tracing application named TraceTogether is available in the country and it uses Bluetooth tech.

Moreover, South Korea received acclaim for the drive-through testing centers that allowed it to conduct rapid testing.

According to a study, the immediate and transparent information dissemination through technology has helped Asia through the pandemic.

In South Korea, pharmacies are providing data that helps the government to tell how many people wear face masks. And in Singapore and Australia, the authorities provide coronavirus related updates through mobile applications and channels such as WhatsApp.
