Nissan To Engage In Legal Lawsuit Anti Ghosn

On Tuesday, Nissan Motor Co Ltd indicated that former Chairman Carlos Ghosn’s flight from Japan would not impinge its policy of holding him responsible for “serious misconduct.”

The matter happened a day before he was to speak publicly.

Ghosn turns into an international fugitive. It was after he disclosed last week that he flew to Lebanon.

The flight was for him to escape what he described as a “rigged” justice system in Japan. It is where he faces accusations of financial violations.

Meanwhile, the former Nissan and Renault SA chairman rebuffed all charges versus him.

Also, he stated that he was the victim of “backstabbing” and a “conspiracy.”

They wanted to disrupt his efforts to bring about the two automakers toward a merger.

In a statement, the Japanese automaker stated, “The company will continue to have appropriate legal action to hold Ghosn accountable for the harm that his misconduct has caused to Nissan.”

On Wednesday, Ghosn is due to speak to the media in Lebanon. It is also extensively anticipated to detail some of the claims he has made.

The claims are all counter to Nissan since his custody last November 2018.

In a piece of separate information, Tokyo has obtained support from Lebanon regarding Ghosn on Tuesday, according to a Japanese government spokesperson.

Nissan Pledges to Start Hybrid Investment In 2020

Elsewhere, it was not a good year for Nissan LEAF sales in the U.S. stock market.

The Japanese flagship was once a best-selling plug-in model. Currently, it stays at a disappointing level, in fact even declining further.

In December, sales declined by 26% year-over-year to 1,227. It has brought the full-year number to 12,365. The measure is under 16% year-over-year.

This year, LEAF sales amounted to 2.42%. It is the total of Nissan’s passenger car sales, not including trucks.

Since its market introduction nine years ago, in December 2010, Nissan marketed 141,907 LEAFs in the U.S.

The year 2019 did not turn out well despite Nissan launching the LEAF e+ version.

However, in the U.S., it is LEAF PLUS. It has a 62-kWh battery and a more extended range.

A list of several reasons may be behind the LEAF decrease. For sure, the market shifted, and competition intensified.

Moreover, it may be charging issues for both with and without high-level charging power, as well as not much driving for the CHAdeMO infrastructure.

However, others will raise the topic of a deficiency in a battery liquid cooling system.

In general, Nissan lost energy and a lot of its initial EV capital.

It looks to be a rebound, Nissan will have to use the forthcoming new platform, next decade.
