Indian stocks were higher after stock trading closed on Friday. Gains in the Public Sector Undertakings, Metals, and Banking sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 went up by 1.13% to hit a new 1-month high. The BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.90%.

The best Indian stock performer of the session on the Nifty 50 was Tata Motors Ltd. It gained 3.65% or 13.45 points to trade at 111.95 at the close. 

Meanwhile, the State Bank Of India gained 8.73% or 15.20 points to end at 189.25. Bharti Infratel Ltd rose 8.34% or 18.25 points to 237.15 in late trade.

The worst India stock performers of the session were Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. It fell by 1.84% or 38.55 points to trade at 2053.00 at the close. 

Hindustan Unilever Ltd. fell by 1.58% or 33.55 points to end at 2087.05. Bajaj Auto Ltd was down by 1.36% or 38.25 points to 2779.00.

India Stocks Top and Worst Performers on the BSE Sensex

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 start with State Bank Of India, gaining 7.90% to 187.80. Then Tata Steel Ltd was up by 6.00% to settle at 339.35. Another was HDFC Bank Ltd, which gained 3.56% closed at 1039.00.

The worst India stock performer was Tata Consultancy Services Ltd., down by 2.19% to 2048.10 in late stock trading. Moreover, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. lost 1.52% to settle at 2088.00. Bajaj Auto Ltd was down by 1.39% to 2780.00 at the close of trade.

Rising India stocks outnumbered the declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange. 1363 were on the up, and 214 declined, and 36 ended unchanged. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, 1963 were up, and 477 went down, while 117 ended unchanged in the stock market.

The India VIX, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, lowered by 3.40% to 28.6800. This is its new 1-month low.

Elsewhere, Gold Futures for August delivery declined by 0.89% or 15.35 to $1712.05 a troy ounce. Crude oil for delivery in July gained 2.30% or 0.86 to hit $38.27 a barrel. Also, the August Brent oil contract gained 3.03% or 1.21 to trade at $41.20 a barrel.

USD/INR rose by 0.27% to 75.645, while EUR/INR also rose by 0.16% to 85.6520. The US Dollar Index Futures was up by 0.16% at 96.812.
