Dallas Mavericks Signed a Deal with Crypto Trading Platform 

Dallas Mavericks and its owner Mark Cuban support cryptocurrencies. It signed a deal with a crypto trading platform Digital Voyager. The goal of this deal is to make crypto more accessible through fan engagement and other educational programs.

On October 27, Digital Voyager made an important announcement. The crypto trading platform said it would become the Mav’s first official cryptocurrency brokerage as well as an international partner in a five-year deal. Digital Voyager will also have naming rights over the franchise’s Mavs Gaming Hub in Dallas. Mavs Gaming Hub is a venue that hosts its NBA 2K league team. 

This deal is a huge achievement for the industry. Digital Voyager wants to help people learn alternate ways to grow their wealth to achieve true financial freedom and build intergenerational wealth through crypto. 

 

NBA, Mark Cuban, and crypto 

In 2000, Mark Cuban purchased a majority stake in the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks. Under his patronage, Dallas Mavericks was one of the first in the NBA to accept crypto payments for tickets and merchandise. In 2019, Dallas Mavericks started to accept Bitcoin. It was the second NBA team to accept Bitcoin as a means of payment for match tickets and merchandise. 

The Sacramento Kings was the first NBA team to accept the world’s largest cryptocurrency for promotional products and tickets as early as 2014. 

Two years later, Mavs made the decision to accept Dogecoin as well. Several months ago, the team announced that people can use Dogecoin to buy tickets and merchandise for the Dallas Mavericks’ basketball team. Dallas Mavericks became the first team in the NBA to accept Dogecoin as a form of payment. 

Apart from Bitcoin and Dogecoin, fans can pay for merchandise using Bitcoin Cash, USDC, GUSD, BUSD, and PAX. 

His prior involvement in the crypto industry includes several projects. In 2017, a team of software developers supported by Mark Cuban launched the Ethereum-based Mercury Protocol for the communication industry.

Over the years many crypto-related companies and platforms formed partnerships with sports organizations across the world. Crypto derivatives exchange FTX became an official partner of Major League Baseball (MLB). As part of the deal with MLB, every Major League Umpire will receive an FTX patch on their uniform. 

FTX also struck a deal with Miami-Dade County. It reached an agreement with the county to name the Miami Heat’s home stadium the FTX Arena until 2040.
