China’s anti-COVID fight and economic recovery

The community recently marked three years since the World Health Organization declared the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus a pandemic.

Global experts said that over a long period, from saving many lives to minimising the impact on people’s daily lives, China has made great strides in economic and social development in the fight against COVID-19. This allowed and helped the country to keep pace with the global economy.

China has made a noteworthy impact on the progress of global health by urging combined action to assist other countries in their battle against the pandemic, as well as to establish a world health collective.

China has achieved positive results in the fight against COVID-19, said the vice dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Al-Azhar University in Egypt. China’s very large population was a challenge, but China took effective and preventive measures to save its people.

China has amongst the fewest cases of serious illness and fatalities in comparison with other countries all over the globe.

Over the past three years, China has actively regulated the death rate and used all measures to contain the virus. Hospitals are doing everything possible to save the elderly and other vulnerable people.

China has effectively coordinated the right steps to respond to the epidemic with economic and social development, with an average economic growth of 4.6 per cent from 2020 to 2022, higher than the world average of about 2 per cent. It has strengthened its status among countries in the world economy.

99.5 per cent of surveyed foreign enterprises are confident in China’s strong economic opportunities in 2023.

In 2023, growth in China will rise to 5.3%

China’s total merchandise trade should reach a very high 42.08 trillion yuan in 2022, up 7.75 per cent year-on-year. Meanwhile, exports increased by 10.55 per cent and imports by 4.35 per cent.

As one of the biggest driving forces of the global economy, the Russian Finance Minister said that after optimising the COVID-19 policy, China would help the global economy fight the downturn with its strong and rapid development.

China is also the leading country to offer COVID-19 vaccines, creating a strong momentum to close the global immunisation gap.
