Boeing Closes A Deal with SunExpress For Aircrafts

Recently, SunExpress was exercising options, which are for ten additional orders from the plane maker Boeing 737 MAX airplanes.

The orders are to keep the firm on renewing its fleet and expanding its position in the leisure travel industry.

In addition, the information came out at the Dubai Airshow.

According to list prices, the purchasing was valued at $1.2 billion.

In a statement, “We have a long-standing, strong and trustful relationship with Boeing and thus we decided to turn our option into an order,” Jens Bischof, CEO of SunExpress stated.

Bischof added, “We stand behind our strategic decision to phase the 737 MAX into our fleet.”

Lastly, “We have full confidence that Boeing will deliver us a safe, reliable, and efficient aircraft. However, it goes without saying that this requires the final airworthiness of the model.”

Significant Progress of the Airline

The airline has achieved substantial progress in recent years. This is after it steadily lengthened its fleet of mainly Boeing 737 airplanes.

It further specializes in proposing direct connections between Europe, Turkey, and popular holiday destinations.

Last year, SunExpress’ passenger count soared to approximately 10 million across roughly 100 destinations.

President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Stan Deal, stated, “We are honored and humbled by the trust that SunExpress has placed in our team.”

In addition, “We regret the impact the MAX grounding has had on SunExpress and its passengers. The Boeing team is working hard to return the airplane to service safely.

Lastly, “It is also providing the capacity for SunExpress to continue serving as the backbone of air travel in the Turkish tourism industry,” Deal said.

Elsewhere, a new shareholder lawsuit is charging Boeing’s board members of disregarding repeated red flags in the 737 Max’s development.

Meanwhile, Boeing announced the 737 Max program as a re-engine new generation of the existing 737 way back in 2011. This was when, in the beginning, it considered inventing a new plane.
