Blockchain Games Surged in Active Users

Despite the hype, blockchain games saw an increase in active players in September, and God’s Unchained cracked the top ten in total NFT sales volume of all projects. In September, user engagement in blockchain gaming decentralized applications (DApps) increased significantly, with several games reporting considerable increases in active users.

Over the past 30 days, seven of the top ten games in terms of “unique wallet addresses interacting with dapp’s smart contracts” rose, with all of the top five games in the green.

Web3 gaming platform Gameta, as well as blockchain-based titles Alien Worlds, Solitaire Blitz, Benji Bananas and Splinterlands, Farmers World, and Arc8 by GAMEE, have seen growth throughout the era.

Animoca Brands’ Benji Bananas recorded the most rise in users, with a 16.543% growth over the last 30 days. Notably, until March of this year, this game was only available as a Web2 mobile app. Animoca included play-to-earn aspects via the Ape Coin, linked with the Bored Ape Yacht Club. While it is unknown what caused the spike in Benji Bananas users, it did organize a P2E gaming event this month that provided a series of lucrative in-game NFTs to the winners.

Gods Unchained Rises

The NFT-based card battle game Gods Unchained has climbed into the top ten in NFT sales volume over the last 30 days.

Gods Unchained has risen 373.25% in the last 30 days to $10.8M at the time of writing. This is the first time the game’s NFT sales have surpassed $10M since January, following a very poor February to August timeframe.

This could be related to ongoing negotiations about a “Season 2” upgrade to strengthen the game and narrative and GameStop’s offer of free NFT packs to Pro members this month. In the meantime, an esports competition with a $70,000 prize pool was announced earlier this week.
