Australian Stock Exchange Closes Shaky after Trading
On Wednesday, the Australian stock exchange weakened. This was after the close, losses seem to be in the Energy, Telecoms Services and Resources sectors that led shares lower.
Moreover, the S&P/ASX 200 dropped 0.57% at the close in Sydney.
Afterpay Touch Group Ltd, which soared 13.31%, or 4.230 points, to trade at 36.000 at the close, was seen to be the best performer of the session on the S&P/ASX 200.
Meanwhile, Bravura Solutions Ltd increased 4.11%, or 0.170 points, to end at 4.310.
Smartgroup Corporation Ltd was also up 2.29%, or 0.270 points, to 12.070 in late trade.
Pro Medicus Ltd plunged 5.80%, or 1.730 points, to trade at 28.080 at the close. Beach Energy Ltd also fell 5.58%, or 0.150 points, to end at 2.540.
Lastly, Jumbo Interactive Ltd tumbled 5.28%, or 1.300 points, to 23.300. All of them were the worst performers of the session.
Falling stocks are more in number than the advancing ones. The Sydney Stock Exchange ended unchanged by 698 to 450 and 373.
Additional Currencies and Petroleum Products
Shares in Afterpay Touch Group Ltd climbed to all-time highs. They were rising from 13.31%, or 4.230, to 36.000.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implicit volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was ahead from 2.17% to 13.297.
December delivery for Gold Futures was down 0.26% or 4.05 to $1536.15 a troy ounce.
Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude petroleum delivery in November decreased 0.70% or 0.40 to hit $56.89 a barrel.
Meanwhile, the November Brent petroleum contract plunged 0.82% or 0.52 to trade at $62.58 a barrel.
AUD/USD dragged down from 0.26% to 0.6782. The AUD/JPY also dropped 0.02% to 72.78.
On the flip side, the US Dollar Index Futures strengthen 0.20% at 98.123.
Australian shares also closed lower today due to investor confidence. It has traded a fresh blow after US lawmakers termed for an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump.
They are raising the threat of prolonged political squabbling in the United States.
