Apple Launches New 13-inch MacBook | Finance Brokerage

Technology news rattled when Apple announced a new 13-inch MacBook Pro sooner than expected. The laptop features a Magic Keyboard and the option to add in Intel 10th Gen processors.

Basically, it’s a new minor spec-bump upgrade for the existing MacBook of the same size. But fans are peculiarly more excited about another thing: the notorious butterfly keyboard mechanism is officially gone.

More specifically, it’s gone for all its future features.

The 16-inch version of the MacBook Pro was first in line to remove the mechanism in its lineup. It was then followed by the MacBook Air with Magic Keyboard just this March.

The technology company has been trying to make its original keyboard design happen since 2015, and users didn’t want it. The 2015 MacBook was forced to discontinue because of it.

Now, as per the laptop’s previous version, Apple is settling with Thunderbolt 3/USB-C connectors. The laptop has two or four in total, in addition to a headphone jack. Plus, it also has the Touch Bar, a Touch ID fingerprint sensor, and an actual Esc key.

In terms of RAM, it can be upgraded to 32GB while the storage can be specced up to 4TB. And 10th Gen Intel processors now have a turbo boost up to 4.1Ghz. The new Intel Iris graphics also support the Pro display XDR at full 6K resolution.

Basic Features

The base model costs $1,299. It comes with 256GB of storage against 128GB in previous models. Of course, it won’t have the 10th Gen processor and it starts with 8GB of RAM.

If users want an upgrade, a 16GB RAM is available for another $100 against the $200 offering from the previous models.

Rumors claim that the display could still bump up. Instead, the new MacBook could be something closer to 14 inches. It doesn’t seem true so far, but Apple did claim that the 13-inch display could reach 500 nits of brightness.

It can also support the P3 wide color gamut.

The current MacBook Pro is available on the technology company’s website, as well as Mac Stores and authorized resellers. Education customers can also save $100 on the basic version’s price.

The Butterfly Keyboard

The butterfly keyboard is one of the modern technology company’s failures, or as it seems. Users quickly scrambled to complain about how easy it was to destroy or dirty.

Moreover, the company had to launch the Keyboard Service Program, which indicated repeated problems caused by the Butterfly. Letters or characters repeat unexpectedly, letters or characters sometimes don’t appear, and keys could feel sticky or unresponsive.

It even had to go through several class-action suits demanding Apple to replace it altogether.

Because of the rising debate and outrage led by the mechanism, the company was forced to discharge the idea altogether
