Amazon Suspends Its Delivery Services Amid the Pandemic

In a sudden move that shocked the market, Amazon suspends a delivery service amidst the coronavirus pandemic. The company announced the suspension of its services that competes with UPS and FedEx in the United States.

According to reports, the e-commerce company told its beloved consumers that its shipping services will temporarily be closed. The company is scheduled to halt its shipping services later in June.

The online retailer is suspending its virus because it needs more workers to handle the massive spike in demand.

A spokesperson from Amazon said that the company regularly looks at the factors to make sure that its set to serve its customers.

The shipping service of the technology firm spans to various large US cities including Atlanta, Los Angeles, Boston, and Cleveland.

Over the past few weeks, the multinational business has struggled to keep up with the massive demand for its services. Last month, it has announced that it will be adding 100,000 more troops to its workforce to handle the demand.

Prior to the pandemic, the company has promised to deliver its packages in just one or two days. However, due to the stay-at-home dilemma faced by the people, it’s a no brainer that Amazon’s business would boom.

The Seattle-based company has not been able to deliver to its delivery promise as it lacks manpower.

An official close to the matters said that the suspension of Amazon Shipping will allow the company to focus on its primary delivery operation. Technology news sites are working to find out more details and the next move of the company amidst the virus.

Sign of Amazon Store. Firing Workers

As social distancing is called to help flatten the curve, companies are strictly enforcing the policy. Amazon reportedly said that it may fire its employees who violate the strict social distancing guidelines.

However, employees of the company are saying that the demands of their job makes it hard to comply with social distancing.

Still, some employees are concerned about their safety at work because they are at the most vulnerable. Indeed, the company has provided help to its consumers thanks to modern technology.

Amazon announced that it will give up to two warnings before it fires employees who violate the guidelines.

Rachael Lighty, the company’s spokesperson, said that in some instances, some of the employees are intentionally violating the guidelines. However, the company did not give any examples of the said intentional violations.

Just last week, the company has already fired a worker in its New York facility after giving “multiple warnings”. Amazon told reporters it has implemented measures such as moving desks and workstations in accordance with the social distancing guidelines.
